The classic symptom of hip arthritis is joint pain and/or dull aching in the groin, outer thigh or buttocks. The pain is usually worse in the morning and lessens with gentle activities. This pain may limit your activity level and make walking difficult. There are many types of treatment for hip arthritis including anti-inflammatories, cortisone injections, physical therapy, etc. Ultimately, some patients are candidates for surgery if their pain gets too severe.
